Constants

Monday mornings are quiet in this house. Everyone is gone by ten. This is something I can rely on every week, it's a constant part of this time in our lives.

Small reoccurring things that we do everyday shape us more than we think. When I look back at other times in my life constants seem to be the most defining. Like that summer when I took the same bus route to my friends house every night. I can't remember anything as clearly as the way the bus felt like it was floating when it turned corners. A summer of riding buses. A year of quiet mornings.

Sometime's I wonder what the constants are in other people's lives. These practices become so routine, but maybe we need them. It seems like they bring stability to our lives in a way.

What are the constants in your life?

  2. I have a lot of things that I do constantly. And that includes writing. I may not write every day now unlike before, but whenever I get myself a pen and paper, I am as happy as I can be! Constant things make me stay grounded and that's what makes them good.
